LEGAL
Terms & Conditions
The terms under which Jewelplate accepts watches, carries out repairs, and returns completed work.
Last updated: 1 January 2025
01
Acceptance of these terms
By leaving a watch with Jewelplate for assessment or repair, or by submitting an enquiry through this website, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms. These terms apply to all services carried out by Jewelplate at 12 Mukkala Road, Mai Khao, Thalang, Phuket 83110, Thailand. They do not affect any statutory rights you hold under applicable Thai law.
02
How a service is agreed
No repair work begins until we have examined the watch and you have accepted our written quotation. The quotation will describe the work proposed, the price, and an estimated turnaround period.
If, during the course of a repair, we find additional work that is necessary or advisable, we will pause and contact you before proceeding. Work beyond the agreed scope will not be carried out without your explicit approval.
03
Services we offer
Jewelplate currently offers three workshop services:
BATTERY REPLACEMENT & WATER-RESISTANCE CHECK — ฿4,800
Quartz cell replacement, gasket inspection, case-back reseal, exterior wipe-down, and a brief written condition note. Estimated turnaround: same-day to two days.
MECHANICAL MOVEMENT FULL SERVICE — ฿9,500
Complete strip-down, cleaning, fresh lubrication, reassembly, and regulation across positions, plus a multi-day timing observation and written condition report. Estimated turnaround: two to four weeks.
VINTAGE TIMEPIECE RESTORATION — ฿36,000
End-to-end restoration including movement overhaul, sympathetic case work, and sourcing of period-correct parts where available, plus a photographic record. Estimated turnaround: six to ten weeks, subject to parts availability.
Prices shown are the standard published rates. The final price for your watch will be confirmed in writing before work begins.
04
Turnaround times
Turnaround estimates given at the time of quotation are indicative, not contractual commitments. Actual completion times may be affected by the availability of spare parts, the condition of the watch as found on disassembly, or workload at the bench. We will keep you informed of any significant change to the expected completion date and will not hold your watch longer than reasonably necessary.
05
Pricing and payment
All prices are stated in Thai Baht and include the labour and standard consumables described in the service. Parts sourced specifically for your watch (such as period-correct components for a vintage restoration) will be itemised separately on the quotation.
Payment is due in full on collection of the watch or on delivery where we have agreed to return the piece by post or courier. Work completed and awaiting collection must be paid for and collected within 90 days. Watches not collected within this period may, after written notice to the address or contact details provided, be disposed of at our discretion to cover the cost of work carried out.
06
Your responsibilities
- —You confirm that you are the owner of the watch, or that you have the owner's authority to authorise the work.
- —You will provide accurate contact details so we can reach you with updates and to confirm collection.
- —You will inform us of any known history of the watch relevant to the work requested, including previous repairs or alterations.
07
Our liability
We take care of every watch left with us. While a piece is in our workshop, we hold it in a secure environment and treat it with appropriate attention.
Our liability for any loss or damage while a watch is in our care is limited to the reasonable cost of repair or restoration to its condition at the time it was received. We do not accept liability for pre-existing undisclosed faults, nor for any special, indirect, or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for matters that cannot be excluded under Thai law.
08
After-service period
We stand behind the work we carry out. If you notice an issue with the specific work performed by Jewelplate within three months of collection, bring the watch back and we will assess it without charge. This covers the labour performed and the parts we fitted. It does not cover damage arising from mishandling, water ingress beyond the tested resistance level, or faults unrelated to the work carried out.
09
Uncollected watches
Where a watch is not collected within 90 days of notification that it is ready, we will make reasonable attempts to contact the owner using the details provided. If the watch remains uncollected after a further 30-day written notice period, Jewelplate reserves the right to recover the cost of completed work from the value of the piece, in accordance with applicable Thai law. We will always seek to reach you before taking any such step.
10
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute arising from a service provided by Jewelplate will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Thai courts. Where a dispute can be resolved informally, we strongly prefer to discuss the matter directly and reach a fair conclusion without recourse to formal proceedings.
11
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. The version in force at the time a watch is received by the workshop will apply to that service.
12
Questions
If anything in these terms is unclear, please write to us before leaving a watch with the workshop.
