Over two decades at the bench
Wanchai Chantarasombat founded Jewelplate after ten years at a Swiss-brand service centre in Bangkok. The move to Phuket was deliberate: fewer watches per week, more time per watch.
The workshop handles Swiss, Japanese, and German movements from around the 1950s to the present. This range is narrower than a general repair shop and broader than a single-brand specialist — a useful middle ground for owners of mixed collections or inherited pieces of uncertain origin.

PROCESS
A clear process from intake to handback
We follow a fixed sequence for every watch: intake examination, written assessment, owner approval, disassembly, service, reassembly, testing, regulation, and handback with documentation. The sequence does not change depending on how busy the workshop is.
If we find something unexpected mid-service — a cracked jewel, a worn keyless works — we stop, document it, and call before proceeding. Work scope does not expand without your approval.

Workshop communication is handled by a dedicated coordinator who knows the status of every piece in the workshop at any given time. When your watch changes hands internally — from examination to bench, from bench to timing — that is logged, and you can ask at any point.
For postal repairs we provide a receipt on arrival confirmation, an update when work starts, and a dispatch notification. The photographic record for vintage pieces is sent digitally before the watch ships back.

PRICING
Prices that reflect the actual work
A battery replacement at ฿4,800 includes the cell, a gasket check, a case-back reseal, an exterior clean, and a written note. A mechanical full service at ฿9,500 covers every step of the process — strip, clean, lubricate, reassemble, regulate over several days, and document.
There are no unstated extras. If parts are needed beyond standard consumables, we quote them before fitting. The figure you approve before work starts is the figure on the invoice.

WHAT SETS US APART
Distinctive features of the workshop
Strictly limited intake volume
We take on fewer commissions than a larger shop to keep service depth consistent. When the bench is full, we say so and offer a waiting list rather than rushing existing work.
No cosmetic work without a conversation
Case polishing, dial refinishing, and hands re-luming are not offered as standard add-ons. If you want them discussed, we can — but the default is to leave cosmetic condition unchanged.
Parts provenance documented for vintage pieces
Every component sourced for a vintage restoration is logged with its origin. Owners receive this record as part of the handback documentation — useful for insurance and future service history.
Climate considerations baked into advice
Phuket's humidity is hard on gaskets and crown threads. We include specific maintenance notes relevant to tropical wear with every battery change and full service — not generic watch-care copy.
